5 Mommy Brain Moments

IMG_0869
You’ve heard of “Pregnancy Brain” – that foggy, forgetful time that pregnant women experience. The simplest things seem to slip the mind, and you can’t remember like you used to. Unfortunately, that forgetfulness doesn’t completely go away. I’m finding that this is happening less as I grow accustomed to my new life and role. Nonetheless, I’m not immune. Here are 5 of my Mommy Brain Moments:

5.  Driving all the way to work and sitting in the parking lot – and realizing that I left my work laptop at home.

4.  I have gone out in public and to work at least three times with my clothes inside out.

3.  I once stressed out about not being able to find an article of clothing that I was already wearing.

2.  I took a “nap” on the couch, which lasted a good couple of hours. Somehow, I made it to my bed during the nap. I woke up, panicking that I had slept the entire 24 hours, into the next evening and had missed work without calling in. I was furiously trying to find my work cell to call my boss before my husband reminded me that it was the weekend.

And my husband’s favorite:

1. I sat in the car for 15 minutes in transit not realizing that I was wearing broken sunglasses. The sunglasses were completely missing a lens on one side . It was a sunny day and I hadn’t noticed the difference. One eye had a lens, the other didn’t. I was basically wearing a strange monocle.

I’m sure there are many more…but I’m claiming “Mom Brain” so I can forget them. 😉💙

  1. I’ve been there! I remember getting to work and wondering why my underwear felt weird. Finally go to the bathroom when I see I put them on SIDEWAYS. So I fixed them, didn’t feel better. Later saw I put them on sideways again just the other way. I was like I just need a nap 😴 😂

  2. Oh my goodness, lol. Thank you for sharing your Mommy Brain moments with us. And as a thought, with fashion being quite an abstract art at times I’m sure you could have claimed artistic vision whilst wearing your clothes inside out and one sunglass lens 🙂

  3. These are hilarious and oh-so-relatable! My favorite is always having to search for stuff in my diaper bag to the point I turn the stupid thing completely upside down and empty everything only to realize the thing I was looking for wasn’t even in the bag to begin with. This happens all.the.time!!!

  4. These are hilarious! I do not have children of my own, but I see these mommy brain moments when I’m with my friends who have children all the time! We sure do get a great chuckle from them 😊😊

  5. Those are so funny, I actually have some of these moments myself. I need to keep notes everywhere so I don’t forget anything. Guess it’s even going to be worse for me when I get pregnant 😀

  6. LOL!!!! I have the worse case of mommy brain. It doesnt show up for me as disoriented but I just don’t remember really important things unless they have something specifically to do with my kids. I was forgetting everything so I have to put it in my calendar app or my reminders app.

  8. I have had those moments as I am mostly a stay at home dad. (I work three days a week on the weekends) During the week I watch the children, however. This past weekend on Sunday I got home from work and the wife and children were gone as they went to a family event. I decided to take a nap and when I woke three hours later they still had not come home. I panicked that I was supposed to have picked up the kids from daycare and my wife was due home from work and that I had overslept. I quickly drove over to the daycare that was closed all day for the holiday weekend that was normally open before I realized that my wife had the kids and I didn’t have any worries.

  9. haha I’ve had a few moments like that myself. I’ve been talking on the phone and then panicking to the other person that I’ve lost my phone and can’t find it. Or put things in the microwave when I mean to put it in the fridge and vice versa. oops 🙂
