The world of Poshmark is so competitive. Buyers have so many choices and options. It takes a lot to really become a successful seller. Because of this, a sale is always appreciated. However, a sale from a repeat buyer? That’s gold.
Aside from selling quality goods and providing amazing service, what else can a Posher do to encourage a repeat buyer? I’ve only had one, so my experience is null. However, the ladies at the Facebook Poshmark Analytics group have had great ideas. One member, Kristin @poshsweetly has placed the following ad in her closet.
In the past, I have tried to offer certain repeat customers discounts, specifically those who leave a 5-star rating and positive feedback. I’ve posted the offer on the purchased item’s listing while I thanked them for their rating. Sadly, I have not seen any returns from this.
Kristin’s strategy differs in that she offers all repeat customers free shipping. This is key. A percentage off is great, but shipping costs are what really gets to people. This is especially the case when someone is buying a smaller item, like jewelry or accessories. The idea of free shipping is very much appealing. Most people gravitate to FREE items versus DISCOUNTED items.
For Kristin, she doesn’t lose very much since her minimum purchase requirement is $30. If she chooses not to apply any other promotion, she is giving a 23% discount at maximum. That’s not too bad!
To date, she has stated that she has had a good amount of customers take advantage of the promotion. In my opinion, that’s a great return for a small investment! Since 20 – 25% is a common Poshmark discount, there’ s not a loss if people take advantage, and there’s no effect if people decide not to use it. As long as someone decides to return to your closet, I consider that a step forward.
I currently have a 20% promotion for return buyers, but I think I’m going to follow Kristin’s example and see where it takes me!
